In 1986 about 500,000 vehicles were sold, and new models like Bajaj M 80 and Kawasaki Bajaj being introduced. India’s first four stroke two wheeler came into existence in 1998 at Akurdi.

 

Pulsar category was rolled out in 2001. Pulsar varieties have gone through a series of innovation to the latest being the launch of Pulsar 220 with latest style, digital flash and fuel injection. Pulsars are upgrades on the fuel system to increase the efficiency of the engine along with other factors.

The patent DTSi owned by Bajaj Auto stands for Digital Twin Spark Igniton. Two plugs are associated with each cylinder replacing the standard one spark plug.

Another trademark owned by Bajaj Auto is ExhausTEC which means Exhaust Torque Expansion Chamber. This is an upgrade to enhance the low end performance of bikes. Bajaj Platina is based on this technology and a similarity is seen with the Bajaj Wind. The Platina comes with chrome grpahics in silver-platinum colour.

Bajaj Auto based in Pune, Maharashtra and has its plants in Chakan, Waluj and Akurdi. The company has won several laurels in recent 2007 being The Bike Manufacturer of the year 2007. Bajaj Platina and Bajaj Pulsar won the best bikes in 2007. Several awards were won earlier in Export Excellence.
