Indian Bikes Parts

Indian bikes come with indigenous spare parts. The north of India especially Punjab is an exponent in its manufacturing.

Brakes come as rim mounted offering Cantilever or V types. The V ones has one cable to pull from the tyre and two arm handles fitted to the frame. Cantilevers have stunted arms and are Y shaped. Callipers are found in racing/sports bikes and are like clips. The advantage of these type of brakes are that they are extremely light to handle. Disk and Drum variety feature in Hub mounted brakes. Disc accommodate mountain terrains whereas Drum is a heavier variety.

Similar to the working of car brakes, hydraulic brakes use pistons to compress oil which help the movement of force. They have low maintenance. They are more costly and special repair techniques.

Wheels are alloy types and are light weight. The stainless steel quality of spokes enhance cosmetic value and are preferred to the galvanized variety. Double butt spokes are lighter and much resistant to shocks.

Derail method is set in the derailleur gears. This uses the cage theory and have many cogs in the back and front with variable sizes. Gear shifters control the handle bars. Most of them are the indexed variety coming in Thumbshifters, Gripshift and Revoshift variety.

Other Indian spare parts include tyres, tubes, fork, frames, chain wheel, brakes, saddle, cranks, carrier, handle bars, mud guard, hub, spokes, clutch plates, kick starters and axles. Modified bikes have better panel bars, seating, height adjustments and water bottle holders. There are provisions to install a music system too. Lighting sets are a package and also reflectors and horns with different sounds.
